Elijah Pittman is a rising sophomore at Morgan State University and is majoring in multimedia journalism. He is the president of his university’s chapter of the National Association of BlackJournalists, and he is the senior administration and policy reporter for his university’s student-run paper, the MSU Spokesman. Elijah wrote on The Spokesman throughout his freshman year which is where he first gained journalistic experience. He participated in the NABJ Student Project as a part of the print team during the 2023 summer. On The Spokesman he broke a story about metal detectors, exposing the unequal enforcement of security at his university. Elijah enjoys researching the Black experience both historically and concurrently and desires to write stories that bring political consciousness to communities excluded from the news.
