SPJ Award finalists include POGO and IRW

A package of ICE contracting stories by reporters at the Project on Government Oversight was a finalist for a Society of Professional Journalists DC chapter award for investigative journalism. The POGO entry included one story that was a collaboration between POGO and IRW, titled “ICE, Inc.: The top companies profiting from Trump’s immigration crackdown,” by Nick Schwellenbach, Luisa Clausen, and Aarushi Sahejpal. The story reports that those awarded some of the largest contracts also made large political contributions and lobbied for a law to triple ICE’s budget.
