I'm the interim executive editor at the Investigative Reporting Workshop, which I've been a part of since our startup in 2008, including serving as a senior editor and then managing editor. Having created and managed many of our co-reporting and co-publishing partnerships over the years, I'm always interested in finding new ways to collaborate. Please reach out if you're interested in joining forces.

As a senior professorial lecturer at American University, I teach journalism ethics, reporting, a history of investigative journalism, and visual journalism. I've also developed courses to cover national and state elections. Since 2008, I've taken students to New Hampshire to cover the nation's first presidential primary every four years — and to help students contribute to major news outlets while doing so.
