Shwetha Surendran’s first story was about basketball. Sports led her to writing, and writing has led her back to sports. Surendran is a journalism graduate student at American University and the ESPN-AU Fellow for 2022-’23. She has bylines in The Associated Press, WBUR, The New Indian Express and The Hindu, with experience in narrative podcast development.
