What’s the future of investigative broadcasts?

Decision-makers behind the creation of network news, investigative podcasts, documentary films and non-fiction cable and streaming programs are coming to American University on Feb. 22 to talk about the future of investigative journalism.

Presenters include Cindy Galli, ABC’s chief of investigative projects; Matt Goldberg, vice president of content strategy at NBCUniversal; Katie Hinman, executive producer at CNN Films and CNN Original Series; and Cindy and Rob Dorfmann of Strong Island Films. Veteran investigative journalist Ricardo Sandoval-Palos, recently named as Public Editor and ombudsman for PBS, will moderate.

The Investigative Reporting Workshop and AU’s journalism division are co-sponsoring the free symposium. The program runs from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and includes coffee/tea and pastries and lunch. 

Students, local journalists and documentary filmmakers and podcasters in attendance will hear about new, thriving markets for investigative broadcast journalists and have the opportunity to not only ask questions but also to meet media executives.
