This new co-production with the Investigative Reporting Workshop will be broadcast on PBS stations around the country on Tuesday, May 1, with additional stories online and on-air on NPR.

Producers Rick Young, Emma Schwartz and Fritz Kramer are joined by correspondent Laura Sullivan of NPR. The first IRW-FRONTLINE post-graduate fellow, Kate McCormick, helped to research and report the story.

Additional coverage aired on NPR’s All Things Considered: Laura Sullivan looks at the problems on Puerto Rico before Hurricane Maria’s devastation in the first of a two-part program.

And she examines a trove of internal government documents that reveal a federal relief agency in chaos as millions struggled without power.
